Kuudes raportoitu JyJy. Toinen mysteerihuivi, johon tänä vuonna olen osallistunut oli Urquhart castle. Ohje tuli parin viikon välein viitenä eri vihjeenä. Huivissa oli kolme eri vaihtoehtoa koossa (S-M-L) sekä muodossa (kolmio, kolme neljäsosa neliö ja neliö). Päädyin keskikokoiseen kolme neljäsosa vaihtoehtoon; keskikokoiseen siksi, että halusin huivin, johon voi kääriytyä; kolme neljäsosaan siksi etten tiennyt minkä muotoinen huivi siitä tulee.
Sixth JyJy raported. Second Mystery Shawl I knitted was Urquhart castle. The pattern had 5 clues which were released every second week. There was three alternatives in size (small-medium-large) and in shape (triangle, three-quarter square, square). I chose to knit medium size 3/4 square because I wanted to have shawl big enough to wrap myself into and because I had no idea what kind shawl 3/4 square is.
Alku ei mennyt niinkuin Strömsöössä. Loin ohjeen mukaan 515 silmukkaa ja ihmettelin ensimmäisen kerroksen jälkeen, että miksi kuvio ei mene tasan. Ja tietenkin vasta tässä vaiheessa menin lukemaan virhelogin. Silmukoita pitikin luoda vain 505... eikun purkamaan ja luomaan silmukat uudelleen. Parin kerroksen jälkeen pyöröpuikkojen kaapeli sitten päätti lähteä irti ja samalla joku 70 silmukkaa putosi puikoilta... näiden vastoinkäymisten jälkeen loppuosa huivista neuloituikin sitten jo onneksi ilman kommelluksia.
The start of this shawl wasn't a dreamy one. First you cast on 515 stitches as per instructions and then wonder after first knitted row that why the pattern doesn't go even. And of course you read errata only then. You should have cast on only 505 stitches... so unravel and cast on again. After I had knitted successfully few rounds the cable of circular knitting needles decided to broke and at the same time some 70 stitches fell from the needles... after these obstacles the rest of the shawl was luckily knitted without entanglements.
Huivin keskiosa oli kokonaisuudessaan vihje 5. Vaihtoehtoina oli neuloa kokonaan pitsiä, kokonaan sileää oikeaa tai vuorotella näitä kahta neuletta. Päädyin yhdistelmään 8 riviä pitsiä, 8 rivä aina oikeaa ja lopussa pelkkää pitsiä.
Clue 5 consist the whole center of the shawl. There was three alternatives: knit only mesh, knit only stockinette or alternate with mesh and stockinette. I decided to alter with 8 rows mesh and 8 rows stockinette and the rest with mesh.
