Sock Madnessin ensimmäisen kierroksen malli oli Rose & Thorn socks. En ole suuremmin helmien ystävä, joten en tiedä olisinko neulonut näitä sukkia, jos eivät olisi olleet ensimmäisellä kierroksella. No, onneksi helmiä tuli vain aloituksessa ja ne kiertävät vain yhden kerroksen verran varren ympäri eli ihan ok sukat näistä sitten tuli loppujen lopuksi.

The 1st round pattern in Sock Madness was Rose & Thorn socks. I really don't fancy beads so I don't know if I ever had chosen to knit these socks if they weren't the 1st round pattern. Well, luckily there were beads only in the beginning and they circle only one row around the leg. At the end, quite nice socks.

Raitasukat

Toinen JyJy valmistunut. Taisin unohtaa mainita aikaisemmassa päivityksessä, että mysteerihuivi oli ensimmäinen valmistunut JyJy-työ. Lähdin mukaan FB-haasteeseen, missä pitäisi neuloa/virkata 20 työtä valmiiksi jouluyön ja juhannusyön välisenä aikana. Kaikki työt pitää olla aloitettuna ennen helmikuun loppua ja työhön pitää kuluttaa vähintään 50 g lankaa. Tein JyJyille oman sivun, sieltä näkee mitä on aloitettu tekemään ja mitä on valmistunut.

Kokeilin näihin raitasukkiin ensimmäistä kertaa neuloen päättelyä (ohje löytyy täältä) ja ihastuin. Tosi helppo tapa eikä enää montaa lankaa pääteltävänä kun sukat on neulottu. Alan kyllä päättelemään langat tällä tyylillä aina kun mahdollista. Ohjeessa sanotaan, että päättelyyn riittään kun neuloo 4-6 silmukkaa... näin ensimmäisellä kerralla neuloin koko puikollisen eli 14 silmukkaa. Jotenkin 4 silmukkaa tuntuu liian vähältä, tuleeko niin vähällä oikeasti kestävä päättely?
Näihin raitasukkarinkiin meneviin sukkiin käytin pääasiassa jämälankoja, ainoastaan terässä käytetty Alize oli täydestä kerästä. Hauskaa, että raidat terässä on melkein identtiset vaikken yrittänyt kohdistaa värejä millään lailla.

My second JyJy completed. I forgot to mention in the previous post that the Mystery Shawl was my first completed JyJy. JyJy is facebook challange where you need to knit/crochet 20 projects between Christmas Night and Midsummer Night. All projects need to be started by the end of February and you must use at least 50 g yarn to each project. I created a separate page for my JyJy's, there you can see what has been started and what has been finished.

I tried, first time ever, weaving in the loose ends by knitting (instruction here). And I love it, I'll start to use this method whenever possible. In the instruction they say that it's sufficient to knit only 4  to 6 stitches but somehow 4 seems too little. I knitted (weaved in) the loose ends with one needle i.e. with  14 stitches...

These striped socks for sock swap were mainly knitted from left over yarns, only Alize Superwash  on the foot is from full skein. It's funny how symmetrical the stripes are in the foot as I didn't try to fix the stripes to be identical.

Mysteerihuivi - Mystery Shawl 2016

Bongasin Ravelryssä viime vuoden puolella pari mysteerihuivirinkiä, joihin päätin osallistua. Tässä Miriam Piken mysteerihuivissa ohjeesta paljastettiin osa jokaisena tammikuun perjantaina. Huivin edistymisestä sai laittaa kuvia ravelryn keskustelupalstalle. Ihan kiva huivista tuli, mutta jos nyt tekisin huivin uudestaan, käyttäisin kenties puolta numeroa suurempaa puikkokokoa.

Last year I found few Mystery Shawl KALs from Ravelry to which I decided to participate. In this Miriam Pike's Mystery Shawl the pattern was revealed in parts every Friday in January. The progress of the shawl was posted in ravelry's discussion board. I like the shawl but if I would knit the shawl again I would use half size larger knitting needles.

Auringonvalo hieman vääristi langan väriä. Huivin todenmukaisempi väri näkyy vihje kuvissa alla.

The color of the yarn was altered in the sunlight. The more truthful shade of the color is shown in the clue pictures below. 

Ensimmäisessä vihjeessä laitettiin huivi alulle...

...ja viimeisessä vihjeessä pitsikuvio viimeisteltiin ja pääteltiin. Kärjet syntyivät lyhennetyillä kerroksilla aika kivasti. Alla tilanne ennen yhden kärjen silmukoiden päättelyä.

...and in the final clue the lace pattern was finalized and stitches were bind off. The points were formed with short rows quite nicely. Below the situation with one point before binding off.

Muumisukat

Kummipojalle tuli neulottua yhdeksi joululahjaksi Muumisukat. Kuvion löysin Voihan villasukka FB-ryhmän tiedostoista. Varsista tuli valitettavasti pitkien langanjuoksujen vuoksi vähän liian tiukat eli menevät vain hetken aikaa. 

I knitted for my godson Moomin socks as one Christmas present. I found the chart from one Facebook group. Unfortunately the legs are little bit too tight because of the long strands so he's able to use these socks only short period of time.

Tallinnan tuliaiset vol. 2

Nämä langat on hankittu viime vuoden lokakuussa tehdyllä Tallinnan reissulla eli päivitys on antanut odottaa itseään jonkin aikaa.... mutta koska pidän blogia käsityöpäiväkirjanani niin parempi myöhään kuin ei milloinkaan. Muutama muukin päivitys viime vuodelta on tekemättä eli tälle tammikuulle tulee varmasti ennätysmäärä postauksia.

Karnaluksissa tuli tietysti käytyä ja sieltä lähti mukaan seuraavanlaisia keriä: Alize Superwash (värit 4412, 4722),  Alize Superwash 100 (värit 55, 01), Austermann Step (värit 0279, 0291, Austermann Step Classic (väri 1007) ja 3.0 mm pyöröpuikot. Valkoisia Alizen lankoja ostin, koska haluan kokeilla lankojen värjäystä, katsotaan milloin kerkeän siihen puuhaan.

These yarns have been bought when visiting Tallinn last year in October. So this post has been pending for quite some time... but as this blog is my notebook for my crafts it's better to post late than never. There is several other posts also pending from last year so there will be record in blog post amounts in this January.

Of course we visited Karnaluks and following skeins were bought: Alize Superwash (colors 4412, 4722),  Alize Superwash 100 (colors 55, 01), Austermann Step (colors 0279, 0291, Austermann Step Classic (color 1007) and 3.0 mm circular needles. I bought white yarns (Alize) because I want to try dyeing yarns. Let's see when I have time for that.

Wool and woollenista (sijaitsee toisella puolella Tartu mnt kuin Karnaluks, suurinpiirtein samalla kohtaa) tuli hankittua Drops Fabel Print (väri 330), Drops Fabel Uni Color (väri 105, turkoosi lanka puuttuu kuvasta), Drops Delight (väri 14) ja 3.5 mm pyöröpuikot.

I bought from Wool and woollen (which is located on the other side of Tartu mnt than Karnaluks, approx at the same spot) Drops Fabel Print (color 330), Drops Fabel Uni Color (color 105, turquoise yarn is missing from the picture), Drops Delight (color 14) and 3.5 mm circular needles.

Kaubamajassa sijaitsevasta Liann Longadista ostin Aade Long 100% viron villaa (nr.8/2), G-B Sprint (värit 300, 500, 267, keltainen ja musta puuttuvat kuvasta)

October Socks

Salaisen neuleystäväni lähettämässä lokakuun paketissa oli pari kerää Drops Fabelia ja Niina Laitisen October socks -ohje. Sukat eivät ihan valmistuneet lokakuun puolella, meni hieman marraskuun puolelle. Päivityskin antoi odottaa pari viikkoa, kun olen toivonut hieman valoisempia päiviä viikonloppuihin, että saisi edes jotakuinkin oikean sävyiset valokuvat.

Fabel oli minulle uusi tuttavuus. Kiva lanka neuloa ja yllättävän riittoisa, näihin sukkiin meni vain vähän reilu kerä eli saan toisetkin sukat tästä langasta.

On the package that my Secret Knitting Pal sent me on October was 2 skeins of Drops Fabel and instructions to knit Niina Laitinen's October Socks. Socks weren't quite ready on October, it took still few days on November to finish them. This blog post has also been pending for few weeks because I've hoped to have more light on day time on weekends so that the colors on picture would be somewhat right.

I hadn't knitted from Fabel before. It's quite nice yarn to knit and surprisingly plentiful. These socks took only a little over one skein meaning I'll still get another pair of socks.
