Melkein uuden vuoden lupaus

Se jaksaa välillä ihmetyttää itseänikin kuinka kauan joidenkin yksinkertaisten asioiden valmistuminen kestää. Teen käsitöitä fiilispohjalta ja yleensä yhtä työtä tehdessä tulee monta muuta ideaa mieleen ja niitä lähdetään sitten samantien toteuttamaan. Niinpä keskeneräisiä neulomuksia löytyykin jonkin verran. Viime aikoina olen tarkoituksella käynyt keskeneräisiä läpi ja pyrkinyt saamaan ne valmiiksi asti.

Ja niin löysin nämä ranteenlämmittimetkin. En edes muistanut näitä enkä todellakaan muista mistä mallin olen ottanut. Sen tiedän, että olen tehnyt nämä Australiassa ollessa eli pari vuotta sitten ja että

lanka on Heirloom Colorado (väri 155). Löydettäessä toinen ranteenlämmitin oli täysin valmis ja toisesta puuttui 2 langanpään päättely ja sauman ompelu. Siis oikeasti, kuinka vaikeaa voi olla 2 langanpään päättely! Kappaleet olen todennäköisesti neulonut yhden päivän aikana ja ei vain ole huvittanut viimeistellä muutamaan vuoteen...

Siispä, tänä vuonna pyrin

• viimeistelemään työt mahdollisimman pian kappaleiden valmistumisen jälkeen (siihen en kuitenkaan pysty, että en aloittaisi uutta työtä ennen edellisen valmistumista... tälläkin hetkellä monta työtä meneillään yhtä aikaa)
• dokumentoimaan valmistuneet työt tänne kahden viikon sisällä valmistumisesta (jokunen blogi-päivitys odottolee nytkin vuoroaan, mutta ei ole malttanut tehdä päivityksiä neulomiselta)
• käyttämään jotkin langat pois lankavarastostani ennen uusien lankojen ostamista
• parantamaan kuvien laatua, etenkin valoisuutta (viimeisimmät kuvat ovat olleet suhteellisen tummia, pitää varmaan ruveta käyttämään jotain photoshop-ohjelmaa)

I sometimes surprise also myself when I realize how long it has taken to do very simple things. I need right mood to do handicrafts and I work with several projects simultaneously. Often I get an idea to do some other project while doing another and I normally even start the new project right away. The result is that I have plenty of unfinished projects. Lately I've been going through my WIP and I've tried to finish them.

And that's how I found these wrist warmers. I didn't remember doing these and I certainly don't remember where I took the pattern. What I know is that I've knitted these while living in Australia i.e. couple of years ago and that the yarn is Heirloom Colorado (shade 155). The other wrist warmer was completely finished and the other one was missing weaving in 2 loose ends and sewing the seam. I'm just asking, how difficult it can be to weave in only 2 loose ends! Most probably I've knitted these wrist warmers within one day and then I just haven't had the mood to finish them for couple of years... 

Therefore, this year I'll try to

• finish every knitted and crocheted project as soon as possible after the pieces are ready (I know that I can't commit myself to not starting new project before the ongoing project is finished...I have several projects ongoing also at the moment)
• document the finished projects to this blog within fortnight after finishing them (I've few blog-posts on the queue because I've been using all my spare time to knitting)
• use some yarns from my yarn stash before buying new yarns
• improve the quality of photos, especially the brightness (the latest photos have been rather dark, I'll probably need to start using some photoshop-program)

Joululahjapussukat

Pari päivää ennen jouluaattoa tuli mieleeni, että on aika tylsä antaa lahjaksi ostetut mansikkaglögi-pullot alkon lahjapaketeissa. Ainut joulun punainen lanka mitä jemmasta löytyi oli Red Heartin Denver. Ei ehkä paras mahdollinen vaihtoehto, koska 100% akryylilankana ei pidä muotoaan ja venyy nostettaessa. Mutta tähän hätään sai kelvata paremman puutteessa.

Few days before Christmas Eve I realized that I had no good wrapping nor gift box to strawberry mulled wine that we had bought as a gift. The only Christmas Red yarn in my yarn stash was Red Heart's Denver. Not the best possible choice as the 100% acrylic yarn doesn't keep it's form and it stretches when lifted. But that was all I has so it should do.

Aluksi ajattelin virkata koko pussin kiinteillä silmukoilla ilman mitään kuviointia. Työn edetessä päädyin kuitenkin kokeilemaan erilaisia kuviota. Ensimmäiseksi virkkasin oikean puoleisen yksinkertaisen kuvion ja se onkin mielestäni onnistuneempi. Vasemman puoleisen pussukan ylemmässä kuvionnissa lukee hyvää ja alemmassa joulua vaikkei sitä tuosta kuvasta selvää saakkaan.   Pitää vielä kehitellä lahjapussia ja kokeilla muita lankoja. 

First I thought to crochet the entire bag with single crochet without any pattern. As the work progressed I decided to try different patterns. The pattern on the right side is more simple and better in my opinion. On the pattern of the left side bag reads hyvää (merry) on the top and joulua (christmas) on the lower pattern even though you cannot see it from the picture. I still need to develop  the gift bag and need to try also different yarns.

Nyt tuli annettua lahjaksi glögiä, mutta pussukat toimisivat myös viinipullonkin kanssa. Periaatteessa viinin voisi tarjoillakin pussukassa, mahdolliset viinitipat jäisivät pussukkaan. 

Even though these bags were made for mulled wine, they would work well with wine bottles too. You could even serve the wine from the bag so you don't have to worry about the wine drops as they would stay on the bag.
