Kori trikookankaasta

Tavoitteena on saada myös kangasvarasto tyhjenemään lankavaraston ohella. Kankaiden käyttöä sivuan tässä blogissa ainoastaan, jos se jotenkin liittyy neulomiseen tai virkkaamiseen. Tästä epämääräisestä trikookangas kasasta päätin kokeilla taas trikookuteen tekemistä ja siitä virkkaamista.

My aim is to use also all the fabrics I have as well as I want my yarn stash to diminish. In this blog I tell about the fabric usage only if it somehow relates to knitting or crocheting. I decided to try to do t-shirt yarn from this pale of tricot and crochet it.

Leikkasin trikoon n. 4 cm leveiksi suikaleiksi ja ompelin päät yhteen ompelukoneella.

I cut the tricot to approx. 1,5 inch stripes and sewed the ends together with sewing machine.

Yhdistettyjä suikaleita kun vähän venytti niin kude rullautui nätisti ja sitä oli helppo virkata. 

When pulling the connected stripes gently the yarn rolled out nicely and it was quite easy to crochet.

Kudetta riitti sopivasti korin pohjaksi.

There was plenty of yarn to make a sole of the basket.

Reunukset virkkasin aikoinaan vessan matosta ylijääneistä matonkuteista.

The sides I crocheted from yarns which were leftovers from bathroom rug.

Kori valmiina...

Jämälankakauluri rosee-tekniikalla

Olen läpikäynyt lankavarastoani ja keskeneräisiä töitä. Siinä prosessissa törmäsin näihinkin 11 rosee-tekniikalla (toiselta nimeltä teneriffan pitsi tai aurinkopitsi) tehtyyn palaan. Lanka on Sirdarin Yo-yo (väri 0017), josta olen aikoinani tehnyt jakun. Palat olivat kooltaan n. 19x19 cm. En muista mitä näistä paloista olin suunnitellut tekeväni, mutta nyt päätin tehdä niistä kaulurin.

While exploring my yarn stash and WIP projects I found these 11 pieces of teneriffe lace. The yarn used is Sirdar's Yo-yo (shade 0017) from which I have knitted a jacket ages ago. The pieces measured approx. 19x19 cm.  I don't remember what my plans were but now I decided to use them to infinity cowl.

Yksinkertaisesti sanotttuna rosee-tekniikassa lankaa kieputetaan ensin kiekon tappien ympärille (kiekkoja on erilaisia valmistajasta riippuen ja kiekon voi tehdä itsekin pahvista) ja sitten lankalenkit varmistetaan virkkamaalla.

Simply said you create Teneriffe lace by winding yarn around pins of the wheel (there's variety of different wheels from different manufactures available and you can also create your own wheel from cardboard) and then you secure the yarn loops by crocheting.

Minulla on tapana tunkea kaikki päättelyistä jääneet langanpäät yhteen purkkiin (tai taitaa niitä nyt olla jo kaksikin...) tulevaa tarvetta varten. Jakun päättelystä olikin jäänyt niin pitkiä lankoja, että niillä pystyi hyvin yhdistämään kappaleita toisiinsa.

I have a habit of stuffing all yarn ends to one jar (well, I have already two of them...) for future use. The yarn ends saved from finishing the jacket were so long that the pieces were quite easily sewed together.

Yhdistettyäni 11 palaa toisiinsa, kaulurille tuli ympärysmittaa noin 212 cm.

When all the 11 pieces were sewed together, the circuit of the cowl was approx. 212 cm.  

Vyyhdinpuut ja langankerijä

Kaikki ihanat käsinvärjätyt langat on yleensä vyyhdillä eli ennen neulomaan/virkkaamaan pääsyä lanka pitää keriä. Olen aika usein pyytänyt mieheni apua, hän on pitänyt vyyhtiä käsissään sen aikaa kun olen kerinyt. Yhtenä kertana mieheni sanoi lankavyyhti käsissään, että tämä on sen verran tylsää puuhaa, että hän olisi valmis maksamaan, jos löytyisi työvälineitä tähän tarkoitukseen. No, en sen enempää kannustusta tarvinnutkaan kun lähdin googlettamaan sopivia vaihtoehtoja.

Aluksi ajattelin hankkia vain vyyhdinpuut, mutta sitten törmäsin Üllen-sivuille ja totesin, että tarvitsen myös langankerijän. Tilaukseni valmistumista piti odottaa muutama kuukausi, mutta oli se sen arvoista.

All the lovely hand-dyed yarns are normally on skeins so you need to wind the yarn to a ball before you can start knitting/crocheting. My hubby has helped me quite often on the task. The skein has been on his hands while I've been winding. One time he said that this is so boring job that he would gladly pay if there would be tools for this job. Well, I didn't need more encouragement to start google the  options.

First I thought I need only yarn swifts but when I found  Ülle's pages I realized, I need also ball winder. It took several months before my order was ready but it was totally worth waiting for.

Ihmettelen, että miksi ihmeessä en ole hommannut vyyhdinpuita ja langankerijää jo aika päiviä sitten. Nyt en luopuisi niistä mistään hinnasta. Tämäkin kasa vyyhtejä muuntui keriksi yhdessä illassa.

I just wonder, why I haven't bought yarn swifts and ball winder already ages ago. Now I wouldn't give them up at any price. It took only one evening to turn this pile of skeins to balls of yarn.
