Muutama vuosi sitten ostin Susan Cropperin kirjan Virkkaa uusvanhaa. Yksi malleista on virkattu leninki Nico, jonka hameosan irlatilaistyyppiset kuviopalat miellyttivät silmää. Tiesin, että leninkiä en tulisi koskaan pitämään, joten paloille piti miettiä vaihtoehtoista käyttötarkoitusta.
Ensin päätin kokeilla miltä yksi pala näyttää. Lankajemmassa oli pari kerää Debbie Blissin Rialto Dk:ta. Niistä syntyi tälläinen pieni laukku. Käytän sitä välillä virkatessa tai neuloessa niin, että laukku roikkuu vasemmassa ranteessa langan kanssa, ei kerät karkaile mihinkään.
Few years ago, I bought Susan Cropper's book Vintage Crochet. One of the patterns is Nico Shift Dress. I liked especially the Irish type of blocks on the skirt part of the dress. I knew that I wouldn't have use for the whole dress, so I needed to figure out some other use for the blocks.
In my yarn stash was few balls of Debbie Bliss Rialto Dk and as I wanted to see how one block looks like I crocheted this little bag. I use this bag sometimes when I'm crocheting or knitting. The bag is in my left wrist with the ball of yarn so that I don't have to pick up the balls from the floor all the time.
Laukun jälkeen päätin virkata paloista puseron. Puseron aloittamisesta on niin kauan aikaa etten muista, ostinko langat vartavasten vai oliko minulla jotain muuta projektia varten ostettu Novitan Miamia (768). Joka tapauksessa siitä lähdin paloja virkkaamaan ja yhdistelemään ajatuksella, että katsotaan työn edetessä kuinka paljon paloja tarvitaan. Paloja tarvittiin loppujen lopuksi 40 + 2 pientä kukkasta kainaloihin. Hihansuihin ja helmaan ei tarvinnut virkata mitään palojen ympärille, ainoastaan pääntielle virkkasin pari nirkkokerrosta.
After the bag I decided to crochet pullover from the blogs. I chose Novita's Miami yarn (this project started so long ago that I don't remember whether I bought these yarns particularly for this project or to some other one). Anyway, I just started to crocheting and combining blocks with no clue how many I would need. At the end, 40 big blocks was needed for this pullover together with 2 small flowers in the armpits. Nothing added to cuffs and hem, only few picot rows on the neckline.
Täytyy sanoa, että virkkauksessa ja neulomisessa inhoan ainoastaan ja vain lankojen päättelyä. Minulla saattaa moni valmis neule seisoa pitkäänkin käsityökorissa odottamassa sitä, että innostuisin päättelemään muutaman langanpään. Niin kävi tällekin puserolle.... tässä oli päätettäviä langanpäitä noin 100 kpl:tta. Loman aikana otin itseäni niskasta kiinni ja päättelin yhden päivän aikana mitä vielä oli pääteltävänä. Ja ihan kivahan tästä tuli.
If there is something I hate it's weaving in the ends. Many of the garments I knit or crochet can lay very long time in my crafts basket waiting only that I would get inspired with weaving in all the yarn ends. That was the story also with this pullover... there was altogether approx. 100 yarn ends. On my vacation I decided to finish this pullover by weaving in all the rest of the ends. And I kind of like the end result.
